RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

  1. E.E.O. Public Service announcements ran on WWKY-FM, WTTL-FM, and WTTL-AM during April 2014 through March 2015. These are announcements intended to reach organizations or job seekers, informing them of employment opportunities or to contact us if they would like to receive job vacancy notices. They also announce to the public that we are an equal opportunity employer.

  2. JULY 2014 - Steve Newberry and Derron Steenbergen spoke to a group of Western Kentucky University students on behalf of the KBA WKU Radio Talent Institute about the opportunities on careers in broadcasting.

  3. Wanda Crowe spoke to a number of students at Hopkins County Central High School’s Community Leadership Day in FEB 2015 about career opportunities in radio broadcasting, focusing on her experiences as a Sales Account Executive.

  4. FEB 2015 – Students from area schools, grades 3 through 8, visited the stations to observe various radio careers in Groundhog Job Shadow Day. Station tours were given by Lori Pendley, Wanda Crowe, Rick Stevens, Boyce Tate, and Willie Wright.

  5. Fifth graders from the Hopkins County Junior Achievement program were taught a class by Lori Pendley in FEB 2015 about how a radio station is operated, and about careers in radio broadcasting.

  6. Students enrolled in the Hopkins County Junior Leadership program, grades 5 through 12, toured our stations in March 2015 and asked questions about radio broadcasting and how it partners with the community, as well as the educational requirements for careers in the radio broadcasting business. Tours were given by Lori Pendley, Willie Wright, and Wanda Crowe.

  7. Station representatives participated in Dawson Springs Career Day in March 2015 at Dawson Springs High School where they spoke to area students about careers in radio broadcasting.

  8. Numerous area Boy Scout Groups toured the radio stations at various times throughout the fiscal year to observe radio broadcasting and to ask questions about educational requirements and career opportunities in radio broadcasting. Tours were given by many station representatives, depending on the days they were available. Those involved in giving tours were: Lori Pendley, Wanda Crowe, Boyce Tate, Willie Wright, and Rick Stevens.

  9. Lori Pendley participated in Operation Preparation at Hopkins County Central High School in DEC 2014. Lori spoke to students on her experiences while working in radio broadcasting as well as the educational requirements of the various positions.

RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

  1. E.E.O. Public Service announcements ran on WWKY-FM, WTTL-FM, and WTTL-AM during April 2013 through March 2014. These are announcements intended to reach organizations or job seekers, informing them of employment opportunities or to contact us if they would like to receive job vacancy notices. They also announce to the public that we are an equal opportunity employer.

  2. Throughout the year, numerous Boy Scout Groups toured the radio stations to observe the operations of the radio stations, asking questions about educational requirements and career opportunities in radio broadcasting. Tours were given by various station representatives, depending on who was available on any given day. The tours were divided among the following: Stephanie Vandygriff, Lori Pendley, Wanda Crowe, Rick Stevens, and Willie Wright.

  3. Booth space was reserved and attended by Stephanie Vandygriff, Lori Pendley, and Wanda Crowe for the Creating Futures Career Fair in APR 2013 for students including those with special needs in grades 8 through 12. Students attending were from Hopkins County Schools and Dawson Springs Independent Schools. Station representatives discussed career opportunities for students at all levels in various positions in radio broadcasting. (see attachment)

  4. JULY 2013 - Steve Newberry and Derron Steenbergen spoke to a group of Western Kentucky University students on behalf of the KBA WKU Radio Talent Institute about the opportunities on careers in broadcasting.

  5. FEB 2014 - Students in grades 3 through 8 from area schools visited the stations to observe various radio careers in action on what they had designated as Job Shadow Day as described by Rick Stevens.

  6. Members of the Hopkins County Junior Leadership Program, students enrolled in grades 5 through 12, attended tours of our stations in March 2014, asking questions about radio broadcasting and its effects on our community. They also discussed different positions within the company and the educational requirements for each. Tours were given by Stephanie Vandygriff, Lori Pendley, Wanda Crowe, and Rick Stevens.

  7. Derron Steenbergen taught a class on advertising in radio broadcasting to students enrolled in KBA’s WKU Radio Talent Institute at Western Kentucky University, describing stations at all Commonwealth Broadcasting locations.
