A Kentucky lawmaker in Washington is working to expose the anticompetitive policies of Pharmacy Benefit Managers. They are believed to have been involved in raising patient out-of-pocket costs and squeezing independent pharmacies. This week in Madisonville, Representative James Comer met with pharmacists to discuss his oversight investigation that has exposed how Pharmacy Benefit Managers have collaborated to monopolize the marketplace and push harmful policies that undermine our pharmacies by raising the cost of lifesaving drugs.
The spokesman for the group known as Feeding Kentucky says students who regularly eat breakfast receive nutritional benefits. John Cain says they’re more likely to do better on tests, and have fewer behavioral problems in the classroom.
This is the 8th year of the Independence Bank Farm to Fork Dinner. More than 60-thousand dollars has been raised over the past seven years to benefit F-F-A Chapters and 4-H groups. The five-course meal crafted from locally sourced ingredients is tomorrow evening at the Ballard Convention Center.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a new Court Security Officer. Mark Cannon is beginning in-house instruction and soon will visit the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond.

The Hopkins County Sports Complex will open when it opens. According to many, it should have happened by now, but delays that no one can control have slowed the process. The project involving the city and the county that began around 15 years ago is now expected to reach fruition in November or early December.
Madisonville says it would open its arms to welcome a new business to town that would employ hundreds. The city also says there’s a lot to be said 10 new companies, each with under 20 employees.
Two government agencies are prepared to help the victims of the May storms. Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton did a video with representatives of FEMA and the S-B-A. It’s posted on the city’s Facebook page. In just a few, short minutes, they describe how their agencies can help the victims of the storms.
An unlicensed Madisonville motorcyclist is being charged with 4 crimes. On Monday morning, Casey Burge was stopped on Grapevine Road because his rear passenger was not wearing a helmet. Burge’s motorcycle had no license plate and he had no driver’s license, or vehicle insurance. Burge also was not wearing eye protection.
The Drakesboro landscape looks different this morning. Yesterday, the Tennessee Valley Authority imploded four stacks at the Paradise Fossil Plant site. They served the plant for 59 years. The Paradise Fossil Coal Plant was retired four years ago.
