Four of the safest companies in the state are in Hopkins County. The Governor’s Safety and Health Awards include Madisonville’s West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant, Carhartt’s Cutting Plant in Madisonville, their Customer Service Center in Hanson, and in Earlington, the J-Lok Corporation. These firms had no workplace injuries, accidents or illnesses resulting in lost time during 2023.
FEMA says farmers and ranch hands whose tools or equipment were damaged by the storms during the week of May 21st should contact them. FEMA says assistance is available to Hopkins and Muhlenberg residents to replace disaster-damaged essential tools, supplies, equipment and items required for employment or for self-employment. Each county has a FEMA assistance center. In Hopkins, it’s at 1-14 Madison Square Drive. It Muhlenberg, it in Central City at the the Training Center at 61 Career Way.
The traffic stop of a vehicle on I-69 on Wednesday afternoon involved a Chevrolet Impala with an outdated registration plate. The auto insurance of 41-year-old Jason Haynes of Beaver Dam had also expired. The K-9 Drax sniffed out the odor of illicit drugs. The officer found a pill bottle with containing hydrochloride pills. Also found were two bottles of fake urine.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer continues to expose the president’s influence peddling schemes. On NEWSMAX, Mr. Comer described the crimes. Mr. Comer says it’s important for the American people to know the extent of President Biden’s corruption.

At Madisonville North, a 40-foot shipping container is now a fully supplied medical clinic that’s about to be sent to Liberia. The work was done by agriculture classes and the F-F-A. The project was funded through Harbor Freight Tools for Schools. Supplies Overseas in Louisville collected medical supplies for the trailer. Supplies Overseas has a connection to Liberia. In the spring, Ag students partnered with other classes to accomplish the project.
Here’s the early voting information for Webster County. It will take place for 3 days in Dixon at the Senior Center on North College Street. The poll will be open from 8 until 4 on Thursday, October 31st, and Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd. Qualified voters can vote by mail with an absentee ballot. The deadline is October 22nd. For excused reasons only, qualified voters can cast an absentee ballot in person on October 23rd to the 25th, and the 28th to the 30th from 8 until 4.
In Madisonville, Harvest Fest is back for year 4. It will be at Mahr Park. City events director Lucy Bess says it will be on Friday and Saturday, the 27th and 28th.
Some Hopkins Central agriculture students are involved in a sweet corn project. Today, the sweet corn that they planted on the campus will be harvested and shucked. Sometime soon, it will be served in some of the district’s cafeterias.
