In Madisonville, the police are holding a man they say sexually assaulted a woman last month. 55-year-old Kenneth Jones of Nortonville was booked over the weekend. The police say the prosecution could decide to amend the charge.
It was a turning infraction that led to the arrest of the driver in Madisonville during the midnight hour recently. The incident occurred at Dulin and South Main streets. It was found that James Ramsey was driving with a suspended license. Ramsey was transported to the county jail.
In Madisonville, the 12th annual 9-11 Heroes Run is almost here. The date for the downtown event is Saturday evening, September 7th at 8. The 9-11 Heroes Run serves as an opportunity for our community to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11. It’s also a time to honor our veterans, military personnel, and first responders.
The Hopkins County Schools are hoping their notification for the students in grades 1 to 8 will be productive. When it comes to school athletic events, all students under 9th grade must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The directive also says that tobacco products and vapes are prohibited on all of the campuses.
This is the week of the hot air balloon show in Madisonville. Madisonville Illuminated will be from 4 until 10 at Mahr Park on Friday the 30th. Tethered ride up to 60 feet are 10-dollars, otherwise, the event is free. Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

The National Weather Service says our next break from summer weather will begin on Friday with a front that could produce some showers and thunderstorms.
The Madisonville police are reporting the arrest of a registered sex offender and convicted felon. Bryan Clark was picked up on Friday and charged with 5 crimes, including sexual abuse. The investigation began on August 19th following information provided by an informant. Clark admitted he possessed a handgun. A search warrant allowed the police to confiscate obscene material.
In Madisonville, the city and the chamber of commerce will be staging a small business roundtable event. It will be on Wednesday, September 11th at 8 at City Hall. Included wil be a light breakfast.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating Saturday night’s theft in Sebree. Thanks to eyewitness accounts, the sheriff’s office believes they have the vehicle that was used in the crime on North Henderson Street. Found with drugs and drug paraphernalia, Donald Harmon was arrested and lodged in the detention center.
In Washington D-C, a major component of the farm bill is conservation agriculture programs. Sierra Club Kentucky says they help protect natural resources from the impacts of industrial farming. Hank Graddy with Sierra Club’s Kentucky Chapter says even if the bill’s future remains uncertain, now is the time for farmers to take advantage of additional funding in the Conservation Title. Graddy says these conservation programs provide financial incentives.
