In Madisonville, the mayor is reaching out to a website that he believes is misrepresenting the city. Kevin Cotton has problems with Rent Café. Mayor Cotton says there are reputable sites that are using reliable and accurate information.
Madisonville has a new coffee shop. Starbucks is now open at Hudson Park and Whittington Drive. It’s part of the Town Center development that includes Aspen Dental, Hobby Lobby, and an Aldi grocery store.
The law enforcement agency closest to monitoring our highways is the state police. Periodically, they conduct traffic safety checkpoints. Drivers are requested to produce their operator’s license, vehicle registration receipt, and proof of insurance.
Northern Kentucky University is joining the University of Kentucky in ending its D-E-I efforts. That stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The university says its commitment is to help every student. The Highland Heights school says it will now explore ways to continue the work of ensuring that N-K-U is a campus where everyone feels welcomed and supported.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a promotion. Deputy Russell Roberts is now a Sergeant. He will serve as the School Resource Officer at the high school. That’s where Roberts graduated. Roberts has served in the Morganfield Police Department and with the Kentucky State Police.

The aviation program at our local college is setting it apart from almost every college in Kentucky. The Vice-President, of Quality Assurance & Administration is Dr. Jay Parent.
In Greenville, a pregnancy resource center is teaming up with a church. The response of the partnership of Pathway of Hope with Second Baptist Church on West Depot Street has been encouraging. The church offers the Embrace Grace ministry to help equip and inspire the women and their families. The church believes it can help provide encouragement and tools for single women to see themselves as capable mothers.
In Muhlenberg County, the secretary of state will speak to the Chamber of Commerce next week. Michael Adams will speak at 11 at the Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall on Thursday, September 12th. Adams will share insights into business-related initiatives and civic engagement.
In Kentucky, medical cannabis is just around the corner. It will be legal in January. The Office of Medical Cannabis reports that over 26-hundred applications have been filed.
Here’s some good news for pet lovers. Webster County Emergency Management says the SPAY and NEUTER CLINIC is free. Appointments are required for the Kentucky Humane Society CARE-a-van Mobile Vet Clinic. Dogs must be under 50-pounds. Since space is limited. Sign up right away. The clinic will be tomorrow and Thursday (on Wednesday and Thursday, September 4th and 5th) at the public library in Dixon.
