The mother of a child not in his booster seat is facing several charges from the M-P-D. The officer did a traffic stop with Charlee Williams because she was not wearing a seat belt. It was also discovered that Williams drivers license was suspended, and the registration plate had expired. She was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and her car was towed away.
A-A-R-P says around 60-thousand older Kentuckians will save money on medications beginning in January. Spokesman Gary Adkins says there’s more work ahead to lower costs for those whose health depends on being able to take the medications they need regularly. Research shows around a quarter of Americans say high out-of-pocket costs are making it difficult for them to afford prescription drugs.
This is from FEMA for those who sustained a loss from the severe storms that began on May 21st. Applying for disaster assistance will not affect other federal benefits you may receive. Accepting FEMA funds will not affect eligibility for a number of federal benefit programs. They also say FEMA assistance is not taxable. FEMA also encourages using the FEMA app.
The Madisonville Fire Department is reporting that it was a squirrel that caused a disturbance near a residence on South Seminary last Thursday morning. Witnesses say there was a loud flash, bang, and a smell of smoke. The body of the squirrel was found at the base of a pole. It’s believes the rodent had gotten into the electrical lines.

City Hall is preparing to host a business roundtable with the Chamber of Commerce and economic development. Here is the Deputy City Administrator Brad Long. It will be on Wednesday the 11th at 8 at City Hall.
Here’s an announcement from the Hopkins County Clerk’s Office. Voters who qualify for a mail-in absentee ballot can request one starting September 21st. The deadline to make your request is October 22nd.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is charging a man with rape and burglary. 31-year-old Cameron Tandy was arrested on Wednesday. The crime occurred on Sunday, the 18th at the residence of the victim. A search warrant preceded the arrest. The H-C-S-O says Tandy broke into the victim’s home. She suffered minor injuries and was treated at Baptist Heath Deaconess. Tandy appears in court today.
The motorcyclist who attempted to disregard a traffic safety checkpoint in Webster County Saturday night is recovering from injuries in his attempt to get away from law enforcement. The sheriff’s office says Adam Nixon would not stop at the checkpoint on State Route 56 West near the Tilden community. He lost control and collided with a patrol vehicle. Nixon did not have a valid motorcycle license and was found with methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
The M-C-C Singers are prepared to welcome new members, high school age and up. Dr. Bill Thomas says the new season will be different in several ways. The first rehearsal will be on Tuesday, September 10th.
The Madisonville Police Department are searching for a missing man. 68-year-old Timothy Crawford was last seen near Grapevine Road. Contact authorities if you have information about Timothy Crawford.
Hopkins County now has a burning ban. All outdoor burning in Hopkins County is now prohibited to prevent the chance of a forest fire.
