A Madisonville woman is being charged with promoting human trafficking. 18-year-old Cheyenne Burge was arrested Monday afternoon. The police report states that Burge received something of value from the human trafficking of a 12-year-old victim who was engaging in commercial activity. The police say Burge admittedly consumed meth with the same victim on at least 3 recent occasions. Three children between the ages of 2 and 16 tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Providence police are reporting an arrest following a high speed chase on four highways through two counties on Monday night. It began when an officer was about to stop a vehicle on East Main with a loud exhaust. James Thomas reached speeds in excess of 90. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department took over on Kentucky 283. The vehicle was found abandoned in a soybean field. The k-9 Bane picked up Thomas’ scent a few hundred yards away. 8 law enforcement agencies participated in the arrest. Thomas faces 9 charges.
Some of the most appreciated members of the Madisonville police have four legs. Everyone is glad that a k-9 is available 24-hours a day.
A former member of the M-P-D is back. Andy Rush has been sworn in as the Student Resource Officer at Madisonville North. Rush has 26 years of law enforcement experience and a long list of awards and acknowledgments. He’s received the Governor’s Highway Safety Award twice, a Meritorious Accommodation Medal twice, an Officer of the Year Award, and the Silver Cross of Bravery Award.

The National Weather Service says the remnants of Hurricane Francine are expected to produce 1 to 3 inches of rain through the weekend.
The Madisonville police are in the middle of a case involving gunshots, illegal drugs, and wanton endangerment. Two persons were in the residence in the 500 block of Thompson Avenue when the cops arrived Monday night. A search produced illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. They also located a juvenile. The child’s mother was arrested. 40 year old Traci Earl faces 5 charges including hindering prosecution. The police list 20-year-old Tristan Jackson Junior of Madisonville as the shooter. He faces 4 charges.
In the public schools, today (Thursday) is High Attendance Day. A number of schools will be in a friendly competition. Families are encouraged to communicate the importance of attendance. Educators say persistent absenteeism may lead the student to drop out.
In Muhlenberg County, the secretary of state will address the Chamber of Commerce today. Michael Adams will speak at 11 at the Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall. Adams will share insights into business-related initiatives and civic engagement.
FEMA is out with an important reminder. Survivors supplied with federal funds can only use them for certain disaster-related expenses. If money is not used as specified, the recipient may be asked to repay FEMA and could become ineligible for further federal assistance. Survivors should document how disaster funds were used and keep receipts for three years.
This will be the second year for Madisonville’s Octoberfest. It will take place on Saturday the 21st behind The Crowded House at 26 West Center Street from 4:30 until 10.
