The M-P-D has the details about the 2-vehicle collision on South Main the other morning. The police say that 19-year-old Landon Smiley of Dawson Springs pulled his Dodge Ram in front of 26-year-old Kabria Carr’s Subaru Outback at the McLeod Lane intersection. Both vehicles had to be towed away. Smiley was transported to the E-R.
Back in session this morning at 10 is the Hopkins County Fiscal Court. Old business that will be considered is the Memorandum of Agreement in the South Hopkins Water District Tank Project.
A crew from Muhlenberg County 9-1-1 is in North Carolina for two weeks. They brought with them 46-hundred dollars in cash and supplies. The monetary donations will pay the rental on dumpsters and heavy equipment need to clean up and rebuild. Muhlenberg 9-1-1 wants to thank all who contributed and are praying.
A non-profit in Owensboro is helping low-income residents access dental care. Suzanne Craig is the public health supervisor of the Green River District, and the co-founder of the Daviess County Community Dental Clinic. Craig says the clinic is now partnering with the University of Louisville to help train oral healthcare professionals in the region.
In Hopkins County, the school district is attempting to bring awareness to Crime Stoppers of Hopkins County. There will be two competitions. A 100-dollar cash prize will go to the three poster contest winners in the elementary, middle, and high school divisions. 500-dollars is the prize for the winners in the Video Contest. Entries must be received by today. Details are on social media.

The man in Madisonville arrested on rape charges is admitting his guilt. 30-year-old Kevin Ramirez says he took the girl from her home without permission twice. Ramirez’ jail bond is 50-thousand dollars.
You have to know what you’re doing when you put out a vehicle fire. Late Saturday night at Brothers Barbecue on North Main, the M-F-D deployed a jump line when they attacked the fire in a truck. The fire was fully involved in the passenger compartment. Property and content losses were over 27-thousand dollars.
The senator representing Hopkins County says the state needs to think innovatively about education, especially when a proposed change has proven to work in other states. Robby Mills says that’s why he is supporting the passage of Amendment 2. He says in the last 8 years, test scores, generally in urban areas, have not improved even though the state has substantially increased funding. Mills says the constitutional change will allow lawmakers to implement educational innovations.
In Washington, Kentucky Congressman James Comer and his House Oversight Committee are prepared to conduct a review FEMA’s operations. He appeared on Fox Business.
