The man who allegedly assaulted his mother is also charged with violating an emergency protection order. On the police report, the officer said the woman’s injuries were noticeable. It was found that Paris Phipps had been convicted of two other counts of domestic violence in the last five years. Phipps was arrested on Sunday afternoon from the residence on Whitt Lane.
The Madisonville Fire Department says burning embers that had been left in the cooking area outside a trailer are what drew their attention on Friday evening. The fire was put out by hand by firefighters who learned that the Dulin Street resident was not home.
Madisonville now has a working relationship with a company that will help promote the sports complex. Mayor Kevin Cotton says their name is Sports Facilities Companies.
The mayor says Sports Facilities Companies will help the sports complex be more efficient and profitable.
In Webster County, the Walk of Honor extension is a new chance to honor those who have served in the military or are presently serving. In the spring, the county war memorial was moved from the front of the courthouse to the northside of the building. Many believe the Walk of Honor is the perfect way to celebrate a loved one. The bricks do not have to be for individuals from Webster County. You can get details about this program from the senior center and the courthouse.
The state police are sending six telecommunicators to Asheville to support public safety efforts. They will help first responders and law enforcement communicate with a helicopter.

Cheyenne Langhome was unconscious for a while and had to visit the E-R. The incident occurred on North Scott shortly before 3 o’clock yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

The police officer looking to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on Dulin Street left with two people in his patrol car. Tasha Johnson told the officer that Ralph Ager was not in the house. Moments later, the officer found Ager under a blanket in a bedroom. Johnson was arrested and charged with hindering prosecution.

March and April are well known for their windstorms, but November is also a player. Christine Welgus of the National Weather Service says dangerous weather can develop quickly. She says residents are smart to stay aware of weather conditions and be continually stocked with supplies if the power is out.
