Early voting takes place for the next three days at the Ballard Convention Center. The voting hours are from 8 until 4. In Muhlenberg, it’s at the Merle Travis Center. In Webster, it’s t the Senior Center. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by 6:00 p.m. on Election Day.
The Madisonville police say that the woman who walked out of a local store without paying for two large packages of toilet tissue told them that she was going to return to pay for them. The Tuesday evening incident involving with Janet Carter occurred at the Dollar General on South Main. Carter is charged with shoplifting.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of two residents on multiple drug charges Monday evening. The deputies were delivering a bench warrant to Chasidy Laffoon at her residence on Lakeview Avenue when they spotted what appeared to be suspected methamphetamine in plain view. A search warrant helped them gather other evidence. Laffoon faces four charges. George McNary faces two.
Medical providers are using a new screening tool to spot signs of child abuse. Tamara Brown of the HANDS program at the Family and Children’s Place in Jefferson County says the home visitation program provides resources for new or expectant parents and includes education on the TEN-4 rule to help people spot any potential signs of abuse.
Federal data indicates that Kentucky’s rate of child abuse and neglect surpasses the national average.

Hopkins County’s state senator believes Amendment 2 will raise educational performance for children of all socio-economic levels. Robby Mills says it empowers the General Assembly with more authority to enact other education opportunities for students. He says it does not implement any particular school choice program. Senator Mills says Kentucky will fall behind our economic competitors if we cannot offer families the same range of educational choices available in neighboring states, like Indiana, Tennessee, and Ohio.
Complaints about the driver of a van that was stopping at houses and going through vehicles is resulting in an arrest. Austin Dustin was picked up on Homewood Drive in Madisonville early Tuesday morning. Dustin was found slouched down in the passenger seat of an unlocked car. He is charged with criminal trespassing.
A Greenville woman with an arrest warrant is facing additional charges. 41-year-old Jessica Bruce is being charged with trafficking meth and a legend drug, as well as possessing drug paraphernalia. The drug task force is also reporting the arrest of 63-year-old Mitchell Latham on the same charges. Bruce and Latham are at the county jail. The task force used a search warrant.
Even now , City Park in Madisonville is preparing for Christmas. Deck the Park is the free, drive-through Christmas presentation that runs from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. But there’s more! Mayor Kevin Cotton is happy to announce that downtown, there will be two, free ice skaking weekends.
