Here are the local and state election results. The Madisonville City Council winners were Misty Lee CAVANAUGH, Marvin HIGHTOWER, Larry NOFFSINGER, and Glenda WADE. Elected as members of the BOARD of EDUCATION in Dawson Springs are Lisa COTTON, and Carol NISWONGER. Statewide, Amendment 1 prohibiting noncitizens from voting: Yes with 62 percent of the votes. In Amendment 2 that would allow public funds to go to non-public education: No with 64 percent of the votes.
A health and rehabilitation center in Madisonville is having its fire alarm system repaired. The fire department rushed to Ridgewood Terrace at 150 Cornwall Drive on Monday evening only to find that there were no signs of fire or smoke. The staff was advised to stay on fire watch until the system is operating properly.
In Hopkins County, the humane society is thanking a Bowling Green organization. The Henkel Group hosted a pet supply drive last month. They donated pet food, cleaning supplies, leashes, collars, and animal treats. The humane society invites Hopkins County businesses and factories to have a donation drive or a volunteer day to help the animals in our community.
Labor groups are pushing for the next administration to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize, or PRO, Act. Bowling Green resident Tim O’Hara is the former president of United AutoWorkers 11-12, based in Youngstown Ohio.
Union membership is increasing in the Commonwealth.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 is doing two-week rotations in North Carolina to help the state repair the damage caused by the remnants of Hurricane Helene. The District 2 office in Madisonville is reporting that they have had a long list of crew members who want to volunteer. Each person is willing to serve a two-week deployment to western North Carolina to work alongside other Kentucky Transportation Cabinet teams.
A Madisonville man with prior convictions of possession of synthetic marijuana is back at the detention center. Roger McCarty was arrested Monday night in the 100 block of South Franklin when residents phoned the police about a stranger walking through their yards, and standing on a front porch. The police report states that McCarty was manifestly under the influence of synthetic drugs and was a danger to himself.

The Kentucky League of Cities is naming the senator representing Hopkins, Henderson, Union, and Webster counties as the Friend of Kentucky Cities. They say this is because of Robbie Mills’ collaborative approach on House Bill 596. They say as a former city official, Senator Mills understands the role cities play in Kentucky’s growth and success.
