Shelah Priscilla James Radford, 77, of Madisonville, passed away peacefully at 2:43 p.m. Friday November 15, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.
A native of Hamilton, Ohio, she was born to the late Reverend Arthur James and Lula Bell Boykin James on November 18, 1946.
She was a longtime member of Branch Street Church of God in Christ in Madisonville where she served faithfully as a Missionary, member of the Mother’s Board, as the church organist, and as a soloist for many years. She also sang in the Local choir at Branch Street Church of God in Christ in Madisonville, State choir for Kentucky First Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ in Louisville, Kentucky and International Mass choir for the Church of God in Christ in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a District Field Representative Missionary for the Madisonville District under the late Superintendent H.E. Plunkett and Superintendent Clarence Scisney. She had worked at Pride Avenue Elementary School in Madisonville as a Teacher’s Aide and in her earlier years in a Bakery in Hamilton, Ohio decorating cakes.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie James Johnson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving and devoted of 50 years, Deacon Cecil Radford of Madisonville; one son, Darnell Douglas (Rena) Radford of Madisonville; one daughter Cecily Janene Radford of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister, Edith James of Columbus, Ohio; 1 grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.
Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 22, 2024 at Branch Street Church of God in Christ.
The Elder and Pastor Kenneth Walker will officiate.
Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Visitation and wake services will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
