250 jobs are coming to Muhlenberg County. The governor says the manufacturer of equipment for the agriculture, forest products, and biomass sectors is relocating to the Paradise Regional Industrial Park and will provide a substantial economic boost to the region. The 16-million dollar investment by Greenville Manufacturing Kentucky will include a new facility that’s expected to be completed in 11 months. The company makes bulk material handling equipment sold under the Biomass Engineering and Equipment (BE&E) brand.
The Madisonville police will be returning a stolen trailer to South Carolina. The incident involving Juarez Rodriquez, Javier Espinosa and Miguel Sanchez occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the M-P-D located the vehicle and trailer that was involved in a theft. The Ford 150 was picked up at Main and Dulin. Both Rodriquez, Espinosa and Sanchez were in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
A second motion picture this year is in production in Madisonville. Mayor Kevin Cotton says it’s a Christmas movie that will be entitled Christmas Pitch.
A few months ago, the film entitled Playing for Mozart was shot locally and is now in post production.
Our junior senator strongly believes that parents should have educational options for their children. That’s why Rand Paul has reintroduced the Support Children Having Open Opportunities for Learning Act. He says it would allow Federal funds to follow the eligible child, regardless of whether the child is in public school, private school, or homeschool. These funds could be used for a wide range of educational needs.

Thanks to a 9-1-1 call from a frightened motorist on I-69, a reckless driver will be facing charges. Sophia Strange was arrested at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Her charges include driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Strange was swerving all over the road. She was able to pull her hand out of the handcuffs and attempted to crawl into the front of the squad car. Strange faces 5 charges, including meth possession.
The deadline for making a nomination for the United Way of the Coalfield Citizen of the Year is today (Friday). The announcement of the winner will be on January 23rd.

One of Western Kentucky’s longest running Christmas programs is at the First Baptist Church of Madisonville. The dates of their walk-thru living drama entitled Return to Bethlehem are the evenings of the 13th to the 16th. They say it will add a new level of detail to the Christmas story.
The free MCC Singers Community Christmas Concert at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts will include the Madisonville North Chamber Choir, the Winds of Christmas ensemble, a handbell choir, and a children’s choir. The program begins tomorrow (Friday) evening at 7.
