The National Weather Service says 3 to 7 inches of snow is expected to begin late tonight in Hopkins County.  To keep up-to-date on the snow and ice, visit snow-k-y dot K-y dot g-o-v.A swerving vehicle on I-69 on Tuesday morning is what led to a traffic stop.  After smelling alcohol in the vehicle, the officer found an open alcoholic beverage.  Wesley Perry allowed the officer to search the Jeep Grand Cherokee. After locating a loaded 40-caliber handgun, Central Dispatch notified the officer that Perry was a convicted felon.

In Washington,  Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is making it clear that he is for free speech.  On Fox News, the senator says the government should never encourage private entities to censor free speech.

Kentucky’s 1st District congressman says his office is dedicated to assisting residents.  James Comer says his door is always open.  In the just completed year, over 23-thousand  constituents were assisted with federal casework.  Mr. Comer says his office is ready to help Kentuckians navigate the bureaucracy of the federal government.

The former president and general manager of Churchhill Downs in Louisville will lead a program for the Hopkins County Genealogical Society.  Alex Waldrop of Canton-Kentucky has entitled his talk: How the Kentucky Derby became a Quintessential American Event Steeped in Kentucky Lore. The public is invited to the free presenation on Sunday the 12th at 2 at the Government Center.

A careless I-69 driver driver that was pulled over for a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon is facing three drug charges.  The police report states that the center console contained an open bottle of alcohol .  Jordan Wilkins was also found to be in possession of marijuana, suspected meth, and a glass smoking pipe.  Wilkins’ passenger is facing similar charges.  Tanya Carroll was found to be hiding a controlled substance in her clothing.

This is for business owners.  The city of Madisonville is inviting you to visit City Hall on Friday the 24th for a chance to connect and exchange ideas with other small business owners.  Also present at the Small Business Roundtable will be the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Corporation, and the Tourist and Convention Commission.

Near the beginning of every general assembly, the governor delivers the State of the Commonwealth Address.  This year, Mr. Beshear said that we’re not looking at the same Kentucky anymore.
Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman says the new year brings another opportunity for zealous collaboration to protect families and support the men and women of law enforcement.

The annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior is coming up.  Madisonville Community College says it will take place on on Wednesday, the 15th, in the Steve Beshear Postsecondary Education Center Community Room on the North Campus at 12:20.  . The guest speaker will be Pastor Terrence Minor from Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  The guest vocalist will be Terry Slaton. The program will include a performance by the Madisonville North Chorus.
