There is now a date for the opening of the Kentucky Sports Factory. It will be Wednesday, the 15th. The 90-thousand square foot facility at 839 Midtown Boulevard has the flexibility to host local, regional, and national events involving several sports. The city and county expect the Kentucky Sports Factory to attract families from all over Western Kentucky and beyond with its basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts, as well as a 60-yard turf field.
A phone call to the Madisonville police about a man’s welfare is what led the police to an apartment building early Thursday morning. Thomas Decator was sound asleep in the middle of a stairwell in a residence on North Main Street. He said his pillow came from Mad City Drinks and Treats at 17 East Center Street. The police charged Decator with trespassing and shoplifting.

As the need for mental health and substance-use support grows, Madisonville Community College is launching an Adult Peer Support Specialist Training Program. Peer Support Specialists use their personal recovery journey to inspire and assist others in navigating their own path to wellness. The 2-weekend, 30-hour online course will begin on the 18th.

A swerving Cadillac C-T-4 on Tuesday afternoon on I-69 is what led to an arrest. Angela Remmert of Clarksville-Tennessee was found to be in possession of fentanyl. Remmert faces four charges, including failure to notify the state of an address change. Remmert’s passenger made several attempts to take her identification but finally admitted that her name was Jerri Williams. Williams was charged with failure to appear in court.
The Madisonville Fire Department has a report on a house fire that the home owner could not put out with water. The single-family dwelling was in the 600-block of Victoria Street. The fire crew found the electrical junction box in flames. An ambulance carried the tenant to the E-R because he was complaining of breathing problems. Madisonville Electric pulled the electrical meter from the residence. Losses in property and contents were estimated at 35-hundred dollars.
The Hopkins County Board of Education meets this evening at 5:30 at the Central Administrative Office on South Seminary. The agenda includes a report on the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan.
In Washington, Kentucky Representative James Comer does not understand why 159 House Democrats voted against the Laken Riley Act. On Newsmax, he stressed that Democrats still refuse to advance legislation that secures the border, deports illegal immigrants, and stops the flow of illicit drugs into our communities.
