The State Police are searching for a man with ties to Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties. Kevin Johnson is wanted on numerous warrants, including escape. In Hopkins County, the humane society has more space. American Legion Post 6 has donated a new shelter. They say this will help them cover veterinary expenses for the dogs and cats. The humane society says this community’s kindness makes a difference in the lives of so many animals.
A business on South Main Street in Madisonville is having its fire alarm system checked. On back-to-back days, the fire alarm rang the fire department and there was no fire to be seen. Hometown Finance has been advised to contact the alarm company.

An unincorporated community in Muhlenberg County is home to a grateful family. Last year’s tornado in Beech Creek leveled the Davis Family’s house, leaving them with nothing. They say the community provided them with everything, including an R-V. Now, a Mennonite group from South Carolina is building the Davis Family a home.
The person who reported that there was a drunk driver in the Lowe’s parking lot added that the driver offered him a beer. When the police located the red Tahoe with a black hood and roof, they heard how it almost hit another the vehicle. The officer reported that Avery Dunn’s vehicle had a strong alcoholic smell. In the backseat were two open cans of the alcoholic beverage known as Twisted Tea. He also reported how that Dunn could hardly stand up. He is facing two charges.

Two organizations say slashing Medicaid’s budget would harm rural communities. Joan Alker with the Center for Children and Families says policymakers need to realize programs such as Medicaid are not government waste because they keep folks healthy enough to work and create better health outcomes for kids. One National Institutes of Health study found ZIP codes, with the lowest incomes, in states that did not expand Medicaid. Yet, they had the nation’s highest levels of medical debt.
In Madisonville, the Glema Center is about to present a community theatre production. Blithe Spirit is the story of a novelist who is haunted by the spirit of his first wife. The performances will be this evening and tomorrow evening at 7, and Sunday at 2.
