The National Weather Service has the new time for the tornado drill. The event had to be postponed due to weather conditions. The new time for the tornado drill be tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9-07.
In Frankfort, the senator representing Hopkins County says the Commonwealth is experiencing an energy shortage, despite being home to oil and gas fields, and, of course, coal. Senator Robby Mills says Kentuckians are receiving notices of blackouts during extreme weather events. At the same time, the state can no longer guarantee power to industries in certain areas. The Public Service Commission now has the authority to approve or deny the retirement of any electric generating unit owned by a utility.
Can you get arrested on the same day you get out of jail? I guess we all know the answer to that. Tuesday morning at 4-15 on I-69, John Cornelison was stopped by the police for making an illegal turn on Island Ford Road. During the traffic stop, he told the officer that less than an hour earlier, he had been released from jail for driving with a suspended license. After the Central Dispatch confirmation, Cornelison let his passenger, who had a valid license, take the wheel.
In case you missed it, Site Selection Magazine is reporting that Kentucky is one of the top five states for economic development. Governor Beshear had these comments. Additionally, eight communities placed in the Top Micropolitans rankings by number of projects. One of those eight is Madisonville.
There’s a new chapter to the story of the 8-year-old Madisonville boy who was thought to have died last year from eating strawberries. Trey Harris’ father has been sentenced to 25 years. Officials concluded that and it was fentanyl that killed the child. Anthony Person has pled guilty to trafficking in fentanyl, and four other crimes. Officials determined the strawberries did not contain anything dangerous and it was fentanyl that killed him.
The operator of a motorcycle is recovering from a collision with a Toyota Avalon during the noon hour on Tuesday. The police say 46-year-old Brook Johnson was turning on to West Broadway from South Spring Street and failed to see the Honda in time. Injured was 39-year-old David Crockett of Slaughters.

The brand new Kentucky Sports Factory in Madisonville is off to an excellent start. After several events, the staff has discovered some things that need attention.
