In Hopkins County, the school board is beginning the search for a school superintendent. This group will form a screening committee and will oversee a survey involving staff, parents, and community members regarding the qualities the new superintendent should possess. The survey can be accessed on the Hopkins County Schools website until the 28th at 6 PM. All residents may participate.
A former Land-O-Frost employee is facing a charge of wanton endangerment and unlawful imprisonment following an incident last week at the plant on Nebo Road. Barrett Korinta’s victim was intentionally locked in a room with extremely hot water and chemicals but was able to shut it down with an emergency switch. Before she could get out, she suffered minor injuries to her face and a concussion. Barrett Korinta was arrested two days after the incident.
A passenger in a Mazda that was crossing the fog line on I-69 Wednesday morning is being charged with trafficking meth. During the traffic stop, the driver was warned about careless driving. The drug dog Drax found a large amount of meth that belonged to the passenger. The officer recognized Carmen Slaton, remembering that there was a warrant for her arrest.

As the weather warms, state crews will be out controlling invasive plants along our roads. They say noxious plants can damage drainage systems, reduce visibility, and attract wildlife to go closer to our roads which can endanger drivers.

Customers can also enroll in an Installment Plan to spread the payment of your balance over time. It’s also being suggested that residents connect with energy assistance agencies to learn about financial assistance that is available to qualifying customers.
This is the time of year when the Madisonville Miners of the Ohio Valley League are rounding up host families for the June and July season. What’s required is a bedroom, access to a washer and dryer, and the internet. Spokesperson Trish Noel says host families do not have to provide meals. She says the relationships that often develop are something special. Noel says it’s almost like you have a new member of the family. Contact the Miners to get more details about being a host family.
The Kentucky State Police summer camp for kids is helped financially every year by a vehicle raffle. This year, the winner will receive a 2025 Corvette Stingray, or 50-thousand dollars cash. The K-S-P says every ticket helps give kids a summer experience they’ll never forget. The state police social media has details.
