The Madisonville driver who failed to use a turn signal Wednesday morning just after 3 o’clock is now aware that he is not allowed to carry firearms. The officer who did the traffic stop on North Main noticed a Smith and Wesson Shield handgun in the vehicle. The officer had also been informed that Trelan Snorton’s E-P-O order stated that he could not possess a firearm. For that, Snorton was arrested.
In Frankfort, a state lawmaker from Western Kentucky is now the longest currently serving member of the House of Representatives. It actually began for Jim Gooch of Providence at the first of the year. The 12th House district is Crittenden, McLean, Union, and Webster counties. Some Muhlenberg County families say since they received new electric meters, their power bills have been outrageous. They say the bill is 12-hundred dollars higher with the new meters. So far, there is no word from Kentucky Utilities.
School districts buying directly from farmers are being recognized. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture wants to reward those districts. Dana Feldman with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture says it’s important for schools to forge relationships with their local producers. (Audio clip below)
Feldman says for every dollar spent on local foods, two dollars and sixteen cents is generated in local economic activity.
In Webster County, the school district is aware of a social media post circulating inaccurate and misleading information regarding student safety. The district wants to assure everyone that the safety and well-being of the students is their top priority. District policies dictate that when an incident occurs, it is to be immediately reported, investigated, and handled.
The first class at the Western Kentucky Police Academy is underway. Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton says the venue at 755 Industrial Road serves seven counties, including Hopkins, Muhlenberg, and Webster. He also says… (Audio clip heard below)
Madisonville Community College (MCC) is now the only college in the state offering an opportunity to learn about the high-demand field of healthcare technology management. The school says there’s a growing need for people to fill these important roles. The degree certifies that its holder is capable of repairing, maintaining, and servicing life-saving medical equipment. A presentation and hands-on workshop will take place on Thursday, April 3rd, at 6 in the Brown Badgett Building. This event is free and open to the public.
This is Agriculture in Education Week. The Kentucky Education Commissioner will visit Madisonville North today (Friday). Dr. Robbie Fletcher will be looking at the Shipping Container Clinic project, visiting a geometry in construction classroom, and meeting with F-F-A officers. Featured is the work of ag educators and students.
