It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of June Perry Newcomb, age 89, of Providence, KY on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY.
June was born September 13, 1935, in Spencer County, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Arvil and Hazel Dee Powell. It brings her family tremendous comfort to know she is reunited with her husband, Bobby Perry, second husband, Jim Newcomb, her son, Bob Ray Perry, and grandson, Adam Pride.
She is survived by her sister, Lorna Martin (Eureka, MO), daughter, Kathi Pride (Providence, KY), step-son and his wife, Jimmy and Christy Newcomb (Eddyville, KY), granddaughter, Katie, her husband, Steve, and their son, Atlas Berryman (Kansas City, MO), granddaughter, Bobbie Rae Crabtree (Marion, IL), step-grandson, Matthew Newcomb (Tennessee) and step-granddaughter, Katie Newcomb (Spain).
Affectionately called “Mrs. June” or simply “Grandma,” she was an avid believer, leading many to Jesus Christ through teaching Sunday school, leading singing, and serving as a deacon and then elder of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Providence, KY. A person never left Mrs. June’s home with an empty stomach or an empty heart. In her younger years, she was in Eastern Star, was a mother advisor of Rainbow Girls, and worked as a teacher’s aide. She loved crappie fishing, reading, the beach, and spending time with friends and family at the pool.
Join us in celebrating June’s life, her funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. March 26, 2025, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home Providence Chapel with Bro. Kim Hudson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay, KY.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, and after 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Blake Green (Bowling Green, KY), Justin Green (Providence), Kenny McAnelly (Marion, IL), Mark Hudson (Providence), Matthew Newcomb (Tennessee), and Jimmy Newcomb (Eddyville, KY). Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Yates and Neil Rhye both of Providence.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
