David Earl Baldwin, 90, of Hanson, KY passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville.
He was born August 28, 1934, in Madisonville to the late James Deo Baldwin, and Helen Lorene Wiley Baldwin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Beverly Sloan Baldwin, and a brother, Michael Lee Baldwin.
David was a lifelong member of the Providence Rural Community Church in Hanson. He was a member of the National Guard for several years, a Plumber by trade and worked as a coal miner for Andelax Coal Company for several years. He loved gardening, watching birds, woodworking, and especially his Sunday night family meals.
He is survived by two daughters, Belinda (George) Hayden of Madisonville and Betsy (Al) Choate of Madisonville; two sons, John Baldwin of Evansville, IN and Jason Baldwin of Hanson; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren, four sisters, Wanda Bryant of Dalton, KY; Margaret Melton of McDonough, GA; Louise (David) Brooks of Slaughters, KY and Deborah (Larry) Lewis of Hanson; five brothers, Harry Thomas (Mary Anna) Baldwin of Slaughters, James ‘Buck’ Baldwin of Hanson, Ronnie Baldwin of Hanson, Roy Baldwin of Owensboro, KY, and Danny (Marty) Baldwin of Hanson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 27, 2025, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Waltrip officiating.
Burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in Hanson.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Eric Baldwin, Kyle Baldwin, Colton Redfern, Chris Odom, Brad Baldwin, and Parker Hayden. The honorary pallbearer will be Justin Baldwin.
The family would like to thank all the members of David’s healthcare team; including 4 West, his doctors, nurses, and staff; and especially his primary care physician, Dr. Farmer.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial contributions be made to the Hopkins County Historical Society, 107 Union Street Madisonville, KY 42431 or the Eastlawn Cemetery fund, 5715 Island Ford Road Hanson, KY 42413. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
