Channel 44 is reporting that the mother of the man who is being sought by the police is pleading for him to turn himself in. The search for Jonathan Ruby began after a truck ran off the road and into a ditch near the White City Wildlife Management Area. A Hopkins County deputy found Ruby slumped over in the driver’s seat, and realized that there were warrants for his arrest. Before he could be arrested, he had escaped into a wooded area. Now, law enforcement has employed K-9 units, a drone, and a state police helicopter to locate him. It’s believed Ruby may be armed. Jonathan Ruby is 6-1, 260 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes, and was last seen wearing camouflage pants and a black jacket.
According to the Economic Development Corporation, a tract of land across from General Electric on Madisonville’s west side will be build- ready-certified this summer. Kelly Forbes says it will be one of 22 in the state. (Clip in Audio below) Forbes says the city has 12 properties for industrial development that are for sale.
In Kentucky, street-legal special purpose vehicles like ATVs, UTVs, and minitrucks, are now legally allowed to operate on highways under certain conditions. They require registration and compliance with specific equipment and safety standards. In Hopkins County, the clerk’s office says there are lot of rules that have to be followed. Each local government may choose to allow these vehicles. Special Purpose Vehicles will need to be inspected, insured, and meet a long list of safety requirements before the clerks office can register them.
In Hopkins County, the school board is overseeing the search for a school superintendent. They will form a screening committee and will oversee a survey involving staff, parents, and community members regarding the qualities the new superintendent should possess. The survey can be accessed on the Hopkins County Schools website until this evening (the 28th) at 6. All residents may participate.
Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville has a new medical tool that has received FDA approval. It treats persons with atrial (A-tree-uhl) fibrillation who are at risk of ischemic (es-SKI-mick) stroke but who cannot take blood thinners. This new technology serves as a life-changing treatment option for patients with atrial fibrillation who are at risk of a stroke. It’s described as minimally invasive.
First you get your education and then you get a job. Madisonville Community College is helping to meet the great need for nurses. Dr. Marsha Woodall says the programs offered by M-C-C are providing many opportunities in all fields. (Clip in audio below) M-C-C’s Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing.
In Dawson Springs, the school is serving prepackaged meals again today. On Wednesday, a gas leak was discovered on the property. Since the gas line was turned off, officials chose not to evacuate the buildings.
The city of Dixon is applying for a grant to purchase Crumb Rubber/Tire Derived Products. The city hopes it can share some good news soon.
