Tommy Ray Fletcher, 77, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, IN.
He was born on May 11, 1947, in Craighead County, Lake City, Arkansas to the late Mazie Haynes Ipock and Edward Ipock. A proud American, Tommy graduated from Madisonville High School in 1965 before enlisting in the United States Army in July 1966. He honorably served as a Private First Class during the Vietnam War, completing his service in May 1968. Following his military career, he worked tirelessly as an underground miner with Island Creek Providence One in Kentucky and later as a long-distance truck driver. On August 22, 1970, Tommy married the love of his life, Judy, and together they built a strong and loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always putting family first. Tommy’s passions included watching UK basketball, NASCAR, playing golf, and collecting knives. He was known for his quick wit, storytelling, and vast knowledge of trivia. His dedication to his family is beautifully captured in one of his favorite songs by Conway Twitty: “That’s My Job.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Eugene Ipock, Bruce Fletcher, and Joy Morris; and his beloved son, Zane Fletcher.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Judy Dollars Fletcher; children, T-Ray, Brandon, and Chiara. His sons blessed him with eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. Zane Fletcher, his first born son, is the father of Kayla (Cameron) Beal, Savannah Young, Sylvia (Luke) Settle, and Alyssa Fletcher. T-Ray (Maddie) is the father of Sophie, Avery, Lainey, and Raef. Brandon is the father of Lilyth, Jillian, and Claire. Tommy’s great-grandchildren are Paxton, Pryson, and Paisley Beal, Chance Young, and Eloise and Charlotte Settle. His daughter also blessed him with four “furry grandchildren”, her Great Danes Zues, Dezi, Nelson, and Neena. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Earl Ipock, Bertha Harris, and Fabian Ipock.
Tommy leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
