A court case from last year will be heard by the Hopkins County Grand Jury. The Madisonville police say a six-year-old died in in a traffic crash on Nebo Road near Manitou on September 16th. Injured were the driver and a passenger. The jury has returned a warrant of indictment for Jessica Settle on five charges, that include vehicular homicide when under the influence of drugs, and 2 counts of assault.
Emergency Management officials around the Commonwealth are addressing the needs of citizens impacted by the flooding. Here is Eric Gibson. (Clip in audio below)
The Madisonville police have the details about a violation of an emergency protection order. Both agreed that Randall Blanchard had been invited over. That led to a loud argument.
Before leaving for jail, Blanchard handed over to the police marijuana, meth and a meth pipe.,
The state police are teaming up with five other states to help prevent distracted driving crashes. It continues through the 14th.
A nurse leader at Owensboro Health is being presented with statewide recognition for professionals who go above and beyond to support survivors of sexual violence. Molly Lancaster has been awarded the BRAVE Award. She became a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner seven years ago when she worked in an emergency department in Murray. The program works alongside community advocates from the local crisis center, New Beginnings. They offer support during exams, court appearances and therapy.
In Hopkins County the Humane Society is reporting that a lot of people asking how they can help . About a week ago, their main shelter was greatly damaged by a tornado. The storm destroyed the entire front side of the facility. All of the cats had to be relocated. They are now transferring the dogs to other organizations as they begin rebuilding. The human society is grateful to Independence Bank and to all in the community who have helped set up a relief account.
The Commonwealth is dealing with nearly a week of heavy rain that led to flooding. Here is Governor Beshear. (Clip in audio below) The governor says the Green River has yet to crest. He says the flooding in Western Kentucky will increase as the water drains.
The Madisonville police are getting the details of an assault. A woman and her son told the officers how that Charles Taylor roughed her up at their home in the 16-hundred block of Sunrise Place. The police say the son helped his mom escape so she could call the police.
Last week’s rain is what caused a gas leak at a vacant residence on West Arch Street. It was reported that there was a noticeable gas smell outside. That’s what drew the fire department. They found that water had filled the basement and caused a water heater to float after breaking the gas line. After the residence was ventilated, the gas was sealed.
Madisonville residents are preparing for the spring shred day. It will be on Saturday, the 19th from 10 until 1 at the Parkway Plaza Mall. There is a 5-box limit.
