The driver of a swerving vehicle on South Main in Madisonville that had an illegible license plate is facing four charges. The officer reported that Markeil Foster’s Buick LaCrosse had the smell of burnt marijuana. A search of the vehicle produced a bag of marijuana, a digital scale, and drug paraphernalia. Foster’s passenger was also arrested on similar charges. Two loaded firearms with hollow point bullets were found in Ryan Hines’ possesion. Hines is a convicted felon.
It was a license plate violation that led to two arrests in Webster County. Saturday night, deputies in the Providence area conducted the traffic stop on a Silverado for an obscured license plate. Jeffery Belt had signs of impairment and was charged with 6 crimes, including possession of a controlled substance. Belt’s passenger was also arrested. Tabitha Adair is facing 5 charges, including meth possession.
Thanks to the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, Madisonville can take pride in having one of the finest venues for its size in the nation. Madisonville has a number of attractive qualities, not the least of which is the Glema. Toby Roberts is the director of the Center that’s located on the campus of Madisonville Community College. Today, ground will be broken for Madisonville’s new natural gas power plant. Mayor Cotton says it will be at the corner of Bean Cemetery and A-C Slaton Road. (Clip in audio below) The plant should go into service in two years.
An obstructed license plate is what drew the attention of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office to a motorist near Poole on Saturday evening. During the traffic stop, the vehicle of Jacob Shelton of Shepherdsville had the smell of marijuana. Shelton failed the Standard Field Sobriety Test. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Shelton is facing five charges.
Assistance is available to Webster County residents who have experienced damage caused by the tornadoes, high winds, and flooding of April 2nd to the 7th. The Madsonville Fire Department always reports to locations reporting the smell of gas. Recently, they visited a residence in the 700 block of Hanson Street. The Madisonville police at the scene also reported that they smelled it. The fire department swept the structure and found nothing. Atmos Energy reported to the scene and the M-P-D and M-F-D returned to their stations.
