The state is in the process of opening a second police training site for the convenience of law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth. The first class is underway at the M-P-D training facility on Nebo Road. Chief Steve Bryan says all is progressing well. (Clip in audio below)
When a Madisonville police officer noticed that a vehicle’s registration had a note to verify proof of insurance, a traffic stop ensued. William Scherzinger could not provide a driver’s license, or proof of insurance. Further investigation found that he had a suspended license.
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office believes substance abuse is suspected of causing a traffic accident on Saturday evening. The sheriff’s office saw the vehicle being driven by Rudy Willitt the 2nd strike a culvert and begin to over turn on U-S 41-A south of Dixon. Willitt’s passenger was Robert Carlisle. Both were transported to the E-R. The W-C-S-O says their investigation is continuing.
The elevator at Browning Springs Middle School should be back in working order after two students could not complete their ride. The fire department says the power to the elevator was left off until a technician could check out the system.
A guidance counselor at Crittenden County High School is the winner of a major award from Madisonville Community College. Stefanie Shoulders has been presented with the Pathfinder Award. It celebrates high school teachers and counselors who support M-C-C, assist students with identifying post-secondary pathways, and provide ongoing mentorship and encouragement.
The Hopkins County Clerk’s Office wants you to know that delinquent property tax bills have been delivered to the Clerk’s Office. They will be payable in the office beginning today.
The police are reporting the arrest Saturday afternoon of a woman who was screaming hysterically. Hunter Cullen had been warned earlier about not being on the Bassett Avenue property. She was found to be in possession of a glass pipe and meth. Cullen was charged with trespassing and with disorderly conduct.
The construction of Madisonville’s new energy center is already underway. Brad Porter of the electric department says the first step is to prepare the land at 17-57 A-C Slaton Road. (Clip in audio below) The construction phase of the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency Center is expected to create approximately 100 local jobs, with an additional 15 permanent positions in its completed state.
Two customers to a Madisonville store are responsible for leading the way to stopping a gas leak. Dollar General at 975 West Noel contacted the fire department who found the leak in a valve on one of the H-VAC units behind the building. The leak even had a hissing sound.
Everyone in Webster County that suffered flood damage needs to hear this announcement from Webster County Emergency Management. The victims of the flood should contact one of the these four agencies: Catholic Charities, the Crisis Cleanup Hotline, the State Hotline, or the Red Cross. There’s also a website you should check.
