A number of Madisonville North students are close to completing the medical clinic project. It involves converting a 40-foot shipping container into a medical clinic that will be shipped to the African country of Liberia. The school says 427 students participated in its construction back in the spring. Since then, they have been collecting medical supplies. Funding for the project has come from Harbor Freight Tools for Schools.
Deputy City Administrator Brad Long says the hot air balloons known as Madisonville Illuminated is going to be quite an experience. Tickets are needed for rides, but otherwise, the event is free. They say folding chairs and blankets will be make your visit quite comfortable. It will be from 4 until 10 on Friday at Mahr Park.
In Muhlenberg County, the Economic Growth Alliance is distributing the results of the housing analysis. They say it will provide insights into the housing market, and help identify opportunities and challenges. The housing analysis was made possible by a grant from the Felix E. Martin Jr Foundation. Details about the analysis are on the Facebook page of the Muhlenberg County Economic Growth Alliance.
The Madisonville police are registering for their Cops and Bobbers fishing event at City Park. It’s for grades 1 to 8. All supplies are provided. It will be on Saturday, September 21st, from 9 until 2. The last day to sign up is tomorrow (Friday the 30th). A link to register is on the M-P-D Facebook page.

The National Weather Service says much cooler temperatures are expected to arrive over the weekend, and even cooler weather is expected early next week.
The driver who was seen speeding on South Seminary at about 12:30 yesterday (Wednesday) morning is facing two charges. The police report states that Nathaniel Brasher appeared nervous with the officer. He then refused the officer’s request to search his vehicle. That’s when the K-9 Arkham was called in for a sniff. The dog found a clear baggie that contained meth.
A nonprofit organization will be hosting free training for new volunteers. Hosparus Health Western Kentucky says volunteers are essential in helping them care for and support their patients and families. Volunteers can serve in a number of ways, everything from providing companionship to patients to supporting administrative tasks. The training will be in Madisonville on Tuesday, September 10th from 9 until noon at 200 Clinic Drive.
As the country prepares to vote for president, every state wants the vote count will be accurate and true. An Ohio math and science educator who has been traveling around the country says all Americans should concerned about about a true vote count. Dr. Douglas Frank was recently in Madisonville. Frank has found that the greatest voting issue is with drop boxes and mail voting.
In Madisonville, the city is announcing that the Public Works Transfer Station will be closed for two days. It will be closed tomorrow (on Friday, the 30th) and on Monday, September 2nd.
