A traffic stop in Madisonville is what led to the arrest of the driver on Friday morning. 27-year-old Zachary Taylor of Louisville was charged with possessing a controlled substance. An officer did a traffic stop because Taylor was following another vehicle too closely for too long. There was a strong marijuana smell in Taylor’s Kia Optima. The officer also spotted an ecstasy pill in the center console and a small amount of marijuana. The arrest was made on Cornwall Drive.
The driver of a Toyota Rave 4 that illegally held the left lane for three miles the other day is facing 5 charges. The police report states that Marcus McDuffie took too much time to yeild to the officer’s emergency equipment. McDuffie was found to be in possession of a baggie cocaine, and resisted the officer’s commands as he began doing the arrest, leading the officer to use his tazer twice to gain control and preserve the evidence.
In Webster County, the Resource and Youth Service Center is glad to be added to the Arrive Alive Tour, list of schools. Many students were educated on the impact of driving under the influence of marijuana, or alcohol. The students have been taught that there is no room for any sort of impairment when you’re behind the wheel. The Arrive Alive Tour-list is the number one Health and Wellness Organization in the nation.

The National Weather Service says our highs will remain in the lower half of the 80s through the week with rain chances returning later in the week.
A phone call to 9-1-1 is what alerted law enforcement of a reckless driver on Thursday night just before midnight. The caller said the white River Valley semi-tractor and trailer ran a red light on Island Ford Road. Later, the M-P-D then witnessed the vehicle as it was unable to maintain the lane of travel. During the traffic stop, the driver allowed officers to do a vehicle search. They found a prescription with no label. Dana Maddox of Fayetteville-Tennessee said that she had been driving since 3 AM. She faces three charges. The police report stated that Maddox had become impaired.
The integrity of the voting system is a major issue. An Ohio math and science educator has now been in and evaluated almost every state. His name is Dr. Douglas Frank. Kentucky’s process for purging voter rolls has been challenged in federal court. Secretary of State Adams says changing it now would ‘sow chaos’ in a presidential election year.

Webster County Animal Care and Control say they are down to 80 canines. They say that figure is too high for their facility and that now would be a great time to adopt.
