A bank in Webster County is investigating how counterfeit bills were given out to 14 of their A-T-M customers in Providence. Independence Bank says the fake money first appeared over the Labor Day weekend. The bank says the bills display these words: for motion picture purposes, and in props we trust.
Most college students are 18 to 22 years of age. The average age of a community college student is 28. At Madisonville Community College, Dr. Jay Parent says they have adults of all ages making progress on a degree.
High school students are involved in spreading a safety message. Like last year, they will be painting safety messages on state road plows. The deadline for schools to enter is Friday, the 6th. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has details.
A movie is being shot in Madisonville this month. A number of crew positions are needed as well as actors. No experience is required. The project is called Playing for Mozart. It’s described as a family friendly romantic drama. Interested persons are asked to send a resume, cover letter, and any portfolio pieces to: playingformozart at g-mail dot com.
An award-winning violinist will perform on the stage of the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts. Eunice Kim has been the featured soloist with many ensembles including The Philadelphia Orchestra and Louisville Orchestra. The concert will be this evening (on Thursday, September 5th) at 7.

At Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, doctors are now working with a pacemaker that provides new and exciting options. Abbott’s Aveir V-R pacemaker is the world’s only lead-less pacemaker. It can be retrieved when it needs to be replaced or if the patient’s therapy needs to be changed. The leadless pacemaker is about one-tenth the size of a traditional pacemaker.
The Hopkins County Health Department is offering free Narcan. It’s available at 8 sites in the county. The locations are by the Health Department, the Baptist Health Deaconess Emergency room, the Salvation Army, Urgent Care at Owensboro Health Ruby Drive, the Family Physican side of Multi-Care, Hanson City Hall, the fire department in Nortonville, and in Dawson Springs at the entrance of The Well across from Veterans Park.
The operator of a speeding motorcycle is also facing a reckless driving charge. Anthony Christian was arrested on West Noel Sunday night. The M-P-D said he was doing 64 in a 35-mile-an-hour zone. Before being transported to jail, Christian apologized to the officer and said that he was having issues with the carburetors and didn’t realize he was going so fast.
They’re saying Madisonville’s first-ever hot air balloon event could not have got better. Mayor Kevin Cotton says it was a great. The mayor says it was the most cars ever at Mahr Park Arboretum.
