Robert Allen Bandy, 70 of Nortonville passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess. Born July 12, 1954, to the late Harold and Georgia (Allen) Bandy of Nortonville. He was of the Christian faith and had served as an Elder for many years in the past. He enjoyed all of his classmates from his South Hopkins High School class of ‘72. Bobby worked as a coal miner for Peabody Coal Co. and was a member of UMWA District 23 before becoming the owner and operator of C&C Market in Nortonville. Throughout his life he had always been involved with and then became funeral director of Bandy Funeral Home where he was able to stay connected to and care for the people of his community.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Bandy.
Survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sheila (Young) Bandy; son, Ryan (Jamie) Bandy of Nortonville; daughter, Amy (Jason) Stephens of Nortonville; grandchildren, Avery Whitehair, Talon Stephens, Brinley Stephens and Elijah Majors; sisters, Linda (Will) Kling of Nortonville and Mary Beth (Robert) Hand of Woodlawn; and other extended family that he loved.
Service will be held Sunday at 2:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2:00pm – 7:00pm and Sunday from noon until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason Stephens, Talon Stephens, Daniel Young, Colter Young, Tommy Vandiver and Todd Duvall. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Prowse, Terry Prowse and Roger Dame.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the New Salem Cemetery Fund or The Salvation Army in his memory.
