Just so you know, there are numerous volunteer opportunities. Hosparus Health is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit care providers for those facing serious illnesses. They are calling on community members to share the gift of their time by becoming volunteers to support patients and families dealing with serious illnesses in Hopkins, McLean, and Muhlenberg counties. Hosparus Health will be hosting free, in-person training in Madisonville for new volunteers on Tuesday, the 25th, from 9 until noon at 200 Clinic Drive.
The Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission is hoping many will enter the Great Restaurant Race. It runs from March 1st to the 30th at 10 participating Hopkins County restaurants. The first prize is a 500-dollar award. Check social media for details about the Great Restaurant Race.
It won’t be long until the Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission brings back the Great Restaurant Race for another year. Beginning March 1st, those who visit 10 local restaurants can enter the drawing for a 500-dollar grand prize package.
The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts is presenting the annual Student Art Exhibit through the 29th. It’s for grades K through 12. Normal hours are weekdays from 10 to 4. Admission is free.
Yes, the Kentucky Sports Factory is open. It’s already hosted a couple of events, but Mayor Kevin Cotton says that’s not the purpose of the grand opening. The Grand Opening will be an opportunity to sign up for the summer rec leagues. The Grand Opening is Saturday, March 8th from 11 until 2.
An organization that promotes postsecondary education for every Muhlenberg County student will be hosting a Career Fair at the high school. It’s being described as an opportunity for businesses to meet with seniors who are looking for employment. They say the career fair will help each student gain business exposure. The event will be March 13th from 10 until 2.

In Madisonville, the city council meets Tuesday afternoon at 4:30. City hall is at 77 North Main. The Hopkins County School Board meet tomorrow at 5:30 at 3-20 South Seminary. There will be no
classes on Friday, March 14th. Spring Break will be from Monday, March 31st to Friday, April 4th.
The Career Fair at Muhlenberg County High School is being described as a fantastic opportunity for businesses to meet seniors who are looking for future employment. The Career Fair will be at
the school on Thursday, March 13th from 10 until 2. Businesses are invited to register.
The Hopkins County School District is searching for a new superintendent. Weeks a go Amy Smith announced her June retirement. The search process will be handled by the Kentucky School
Leadership Associates. The last day to apply is March 17th.
A mobile dental unit will be available to residents in Providence. Health First Community Health has partnered with KARE Mobile Dentistry of Louisville. Kare Mobile provides comprehensive dental care in their single-chair mobile clinics. The Health First Community Health Center says the date of the dental unit will be Thursday, March 20th at 9 AM.
The Hopkins County School District says of the Community Schools initiative is bringing people together. In recent days, the Community Conversations meeting saw groups reviewing school action plans for both Browning Springs Middle and Madisonville North Hopkins. There were also brainstorming discussions on new
areas of need. The next Community Leadership Meeting will be on Thursday, March 20 from 11:30 until 1. All parents are invited.
It’s a few weeks away, but the registrations are being taken for the Hopkins County Job Expo. It will be on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Ballard Convention Center at 605 East Arch Street. It will
be from 9:30 until about 2:30.
