Law enforcment in Hopkins County is searching for a man with several felony warrants who is armed and dangerous. 45-year-old Johathan Ruby was involved in an accident in Mortons Gap on White City Road. He was last seen running into the woods. The state police are using a helicopter and drones to locate Ruby. Anyone with information about Jonathan Ruby, should contact authorities.
You’re invited to attend the groundbreaking for the Hopkins County Schools Central Office. It will be this (Thursday) afternoon at 5 at 21-35 North Main.
The new police academy in Madisonville is having its first round of classes. Major Jason McKnight of the M-P-D says until the complex is constructed, they are using the M-P-D training venue. (Clip in audio below)
The Webster County Schools are one of the state districts to receive the Kentucky Comprehensive Literacy Grant. It will provide one and a third million dollars to support professional learning, literacy instruction, and other curriculum and family engagement resources for Early Childhood through Grade 12.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer says Democrat mayors across the country continue to obstruct federal immigration enforcement and shield dangerous criminal aliens. He says Congress must take action and not allow a single penny of taxpayer funds to go to cities and states that prioritize criminal aliens over the American people. The driver of a weaving vehicle with overly dark window tinting the other morning is facing five charges. After smelling marijuana in the vehicle during a traffic stop, Tabitha Hudnall admitted to the officer that she had been smoking it inside her Chevrolet Cobalt. Found in her vehicle was a marijuana grinder, a marijuana pipe, and a bag of cannabis. Meth was also found.
The day is coming when all high school students will have to take a personal finance course. That’s the essence of a new law. It begins with the class of 2029. Kentucky is the 27th state to adopt a financial education guarantee for high school students. The Kentucky Financial Empowerment Commission is calling it a huge win for financial education.
From Frankfort, there’s a new law that will will license all retailers who sell tobacco and vape products. It’s advocates say Senate Bill 100 will curb minors’ access to tobacco and e-cigarettes. Griffin Nemeth of the i-CAN-end-the-trend Youth Advisory Board says the legislation is no different than what’s currently in place for retailers who sell alcohol. (Clip in audio below)
Someone is trying to sell fake tickets to the high school basketball state championship tournament in Lexington. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association is pointing out that the only ticket sales agents for the event are k-h-s-a-a- dot o-r-g-forward slash rupp boys, and, the Central Bank Center Ticket Office, all of which are selling via the TicketMaster platform.
